Event Announcement
June 12, 2026
FRC teams 294, 687, 2637, and 4201 are once again hosting SoCal Showdown. Located in the same venue as the Los Angeles District Event, this event is a great place to train new members and grow your team’s skills and network. This year’s event offers an extremely exciting opportunity: we have partnered with Limelight to make SoCal Showdown an event where all robots use Systemcore!

When: October 9-11, 2026 (with REQUIRED Friday night load-in & field time)
Where: Da Vinci Schools (201 N Douglas Street, El Segundo, CA 90245)

Fill out this application form if your team is interested in attending: https://www.socal-showdown.com/team-application

Volunteers:
Offseason competitions are a great place to try new volunteer roles, teach the next generation of FIRST volunteers, and give back to the community. We need many volunteers to make the SoCal Showdown a success! If you are interested in getting more involved in volunteering at FRC events, this is a perfect opportunity to jump in and find the role that's right for you.
Please apply here by September 18 to guarantee your shirt size. Late applicants are welcome but shirt size/availability is not guaranteed: https://www.socal-showdown.com/volunteer
Systemcore:
As you hopefully already know, for the 2027 FRC season, the roboRIO is being replaced by a new robot controller, Systemcore. This would be the first event with all robots using the Systemcore controller, so we’re super excited not just to give teams an early opportunity to get familiar with the new controller, but also to give the FIRST community a chance to learn from the event experience. Thank you to Limelight for providing the Systemcore units for FREE to our event and teams!
